Health Centre. Middleham Road, Cantley, Doncaster, DN4 6ED.
This course will enable you to assess & treat lymphoedema,
giving you a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy & physiology of the
lymphatic system, and an appreciation of the underlying causes of lymphoedema
and why it develops. Sessions include: assessment of the patient, including skin
& tissues, limb size, circulation, movement and function, and psycho-social
implications, plus management of the lymphoedema; care of the skin, exercise and
movement, simple lymphatic drainage (self-massage), compression - measurment
& selection, palliative care &
Kinesio-taping.
4 days Clinical
Placements: if
possible, students will organise and undertake 4 days in clinical practice,
where a range of clinical competencies must be completed. If this is not
possible an in-course assessment will be
arranged.
