LYMPHOEDEMA: PRACTICAL SKILLS
4 DAYS THEORY PLUS 4 DAYS CLINICAL PLACEMENTS
This 8 day course equips students with the skills to assess and treat mild-moderate lymphoedema and lymphoedema in palliative care.
Study sessions include: assessment of skin and tissues, limb size, circulation, movement and function, and psycho-social implications.
Management will include the 4 cornerstones of care: care of the skin; exercise and movement; simple lymphatic drainage massage; and compression.
As well as the 4 theoretical days, students will undertake 4 days in clinical practice, when a range of clinical competencies in lymphoedema management must be achieved.
LYMPHOEDEMA: SPECIALIST SKILLS
10 DAY (CASLEY SMITH) MLD COURSE
This course will provide students with the opportunity to learn the theory and practice of advanced skills in the management of lymphoedema, including the Casley-Smith technique of Manual Lymphatic Drainage and current available options for lymphoedema bandaging.
End of course evaluation will be by assessment of clinical skills on Day 10.
